Janeicia Neely is currently a professional basketball player for Genevé Elite Basket in Geneva, Switzerland and formerly a professional for Sport Lisboa Benfica in Lisbon, Portugal. Janeicia is interested in furthering her digital media and marketing experience to prepare for life after basketball. Her goal is to work in college athletics, for the NBA or FIBA.
Prior to professional basketball, Janeicia was a student-athlete at Loyola University New Orleans where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication. While attending, Janeicia completed numerous internships and was a member of Loyola’s Advertising team. The internships included Loyola University Athletics sports information internship, America Media/Documentary Workshop documentary film internship, Higher Power NOLA social media internship, Peak Seven Advertising internship, and lastly DMD & Associates Inc. communications internship. Additionally, she worked remotely as the Events Intern for Lesco Productions.
As the sports information intern at Loyola University she was responsible for writing press releases for the upcoming fall season. The articles ranged from highlighting individual student athlete successes off the field to season previews for fall season teams. Janeicia updated the athletics website to include the incoming student athletes’ bios and updated returning student athlete pages.
Janeicia worked as a documentary film intern for America Media. During this internship she created a short documentary in conjunction with two of her film classes. Throughout the process she learned the steps necessary to create a documentary as well as various shooting and lighting techniques.
Janeicia worked as the social media intern for Higher Power NOLA, a New Orleans yoga and cycling studio. She was responsible for updating and scheduling relevant content regularly.
At Peak Seven Advertising Janeicia was an advertising intern that provided support to the account executives. In this position, Janeicia used the WordPress platform to update client websites and learned about various marketing tools.
Janeicia has also worked as a communications intern for Danielle M. Dayries & Associates, Inc. She maintained Dayries’ social media, specifically updating her LinkedIn to the industry standard, rewrote all official documents describing the business’ services, and developed social media content.
As a member of Loyola’s Advertising team Janeicia performed on the creative team. Her duties included creating and planning all the digital, print and commercial ads. Janeicia’s team was awarded 2nd place in the National Student Advertising Competition for their collective effort.
